"Should you have a troubled mind - watch a mobile, and unwind." (Chr. Flensted)
Watching the gentle movement of a Flensted mobile calms the mind and encourages thinking and creativity. It is best to hang it where it is only slightly moved by the air, because a slow, calm movement is the essence of the mobile. Flensted mobiles have been home-made for 60 years by people living on the island of Funen in Denmark. Started by Grethe and Christian Flensted in 1953, today Aase and Ole Flensted are the second generation to design mobiles in their workshop in Brenderup.
The 'Architecture in Balance' mobile is a tribute to the 17 'UN Sustainable Development Goals'. It was developed in collaboration between the Royal Danish Academy - Institute of Architecture and Technology, Flensted Mobiles and Rose & Rose Design. The mobile is based on the "Architecture Guide to the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals", which explains the links between the goals and the built environment and shows examples of successful projects. The books can be downloaded free of charge using the enclosed QR codes.
