The 'Oribu' cast iron trivet is handcrafted in the 'Saburo Sumitani' workshop in Takaoka, Japan, and is a design by Tadahiro Baba. Born in Nagano in 1930, the Japanese designer's designs are deeply rooted in the traditional Japanese craft of Nambu Tekki (cast iron), while often incorporating a distinctive and modern sense of humor. Takaoka is located in the Toyama region of Japan, renowned for its cast iron production, which boasts a 400-year history. The elegant trivet is finished with a urushiol-based lacquer, making it rust-resistant.
