The 'Timebell' candle holder is a meditative object - as the candle slowly burns down, small pins fall gently into the brass base and produce a lovely, bell-like sound that serves as a gentle reminder of the time that has passed. Similar to the calming effect of a Buddhist singing bowl, the sound in addition to the tranquil atmosphere of the burning candle promotes relaxation.
In 1916, Nousaku began producing Buddhist ritual objects, tea sets and vases made of brass and bronze in Takaoka, Japan. The fourth-generation foundry uses traditional sand casting techniques, tradition and the properties of the materials are at the forefront of design development, and each product is hand-finished to bring out the unique beauty of each metal.
