The 'Eclipse' bottle opener, a design by Japanese designer Oji Masanori, does not look like a bottle opener at first glance, but is surprisingly easy to use. Its beautiful design makes it an object that you want to have around and not hide in a drawer.
The bottle opener is made by 'Futagami', a brass foundry founded in 1897 in the city of Takaoka in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. Brass has long been used in various fields as it is corrosion resistant and easy to work with. It has a long history as a material for handicrafts or Buddhist altar utensils, as its texture is soft and has an elegant sheen. Brass products gradually change color over many years due to oxidation. The longer they are used, the richer and more subtle they become, blending naturally with their environment.
