The two golden birds of the 'Dove' earrings swing elegantly with every movement. Designer Elisabeth Schotte, whose pieces stem from the designer's fascination with ancient objects and jewelry, created the earrings as a tribute to the famous Hellenistic dove earrings that are now part of the Met Museum's collection.
In ancient Greek culture, birds, particularly doves and swans, were considered sacred and associated with the goddess Aphrodite. In this context, the dove represented her grace, affection and harmony. Wearing this pendant can serve as a symbol of love and peace, reminding us of the timeless message that the dove has embodied for centuries.
The Berlin-based designer Elisabeth Schotte creates delicate, narrative pieces of timeless elegance. Found treasures and ancient stories inspire her modern jewelry, a series of new talismans and modern ex-voto.
