The 'Dauphin' earrings are handmade from solid sterling silver and 18ct gold plated. The two golden fish of the earrings almost jump around your ear - and form two elegant creoles in their jump. The earrings pay homage to the ‘earring with head of a dolphin’ from the 4th–3rd century BC, now in the collection of the Met Museum. In ancient Greece, the dolphin was a playful motif that evoked Aphrodite, born from the sea, and also her son Eros. It was a symbol of love, luck and prosperity.
The Berlin-based designer Elisabeth Schotte creates delicate, narrative pieces of timeless elegance. Found treasures and ancient stories inspire her modern jewelry, a series of new talismans and modern ex-voto.
