The handmade porcelain plates, designed by Oji Masanori, are shaped like abstracted chrysanthemum leaves, which give the plates their name.
Hajime Imamura, the thirteenth generation of a traditional porcelain family, founded his own company, IMAMURA Porcelain, and the JICON brand in 2014. In the process, Oji Masanori, renowned Japanese designer known for his minimalist style, left a lasting mark on JICON. Masanori drew inspiration from the cherished Arita shapes and refined them with great care.
Imamura and Masanori conducted extensive research to achieve optimal firing conditions for their works. They found the crucial higher firing temperature to obtain especially durable ware. They also developed a special glaze to achieve the desired matte appearance.
