These friendly bird chopstick holders (or Tori-gata hashioki) are a design by Masahiro Mori for the Japanese porcelain manufacturer Hakusan. They look good anywhere - on the dining table, on the desk or even on the bedside table. Chopstick rests offer the perfect, hygienic, and polite place to set down chopsticks. Providing a 'hashioki' signals to the guest: "These utensils are fresh, clean, and have been laid out just for you."

Hakusan Porcelain Co., Ltd. was founded in 1779 in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture, and has existed in its present form since 1958.
Under the leadership of designer Masahiro Mori, Hakusan was the leading porcelain producer in post-war Japan. The company has a long tradition of producing high-quality porcelain products and has been awarded prizes such as "Good Design" and "Long Life Design".
