Originally designed for the British tea ceremony, the carafes by German designer Christian Metzner can not only be filled with tea, milk and sugar. Hot, cold, solid or liquid can be poured or sprinkled with one of the three spouts. Turning when picking up the glass carafe is no longer necessary, one of the three spouts can be used immediately for pouring. The symmetry of the design also make the carafe suitable as a vase, the silver coating a adds poetic touch to this special every-day-object. Made of heat-resistant borosilicate glass by skilled craftmen, the spouts are pulled out of the material by hand and thus retain a visible handcrafted character.
Christian Metzner, who studied architecture and product design, founded his own label in 2006. Always in search of perfect proportions and precision craftsmanship, his work oscillates between technical-looking laboratory aesthetics and classic elegance.
