The handmade porcelain bowl with lid, designed by Oji Masanori, is another shape from the JICON family. Hajime Imamura, the thirteenth generation of a traditional porcelain family, founded his own company, IMAMURA Porcelain, and the JICON brand in 2014. Oji Masanori, a renowned Japanese designer known for his minimalist style, had a lasting influence on JICON. Masanori was inspired by the esteemed Arita shapes and refined them with great care.
Imamura and Masanori carried out extensive experiments to achieve optimal firing conditions for their works. They found the crucial, higher firing temperature to obtain particularly durable ware. They also developed a special glaze to achieve the desired matt appearance.
