Lorraine Taylor and Nicky Smart create intricately detailed porcelain objects reminiscent of trompe l'oeil and early still life paintings under the name 'Penkridge Ceramics'. Each piece is cast in Walsall, UK from an existing model and then hand-painted to look like the real thing. Their horse chestnuts are particularly carefully constructed works of art, reminiscent of childhood, autumn walks in the countryside and, of course, picking chestnuts by the wayside. They capture the moment when the shell cracks open for the first time and the shiny nut inside is revealed.
Half shell with stalk, two removable chestnuts - with/without lid
Material: hand-painted porcelain and pewter (handle)
Dimensions: The chestnut with shell measures 7cm x 6.5cm (without stalk)
Each piece is unique and may differ from the photo.
Made in the UK
