Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro was a Portuguese artist known for his illustrations, caricatures, sculptures, and ceramic designs. In 1884 he and his brother founded the ceramics factory Bordallo Pinheiro, in which his humorous and artistic designs were implemented with the characteristic, glazed ceramics from Portugal. Hundreds of ceramic models were created based on local traditions, using the fauna and flora as inspiration. The large ceramic plate from Bordallo Pinheiro in the shape of a banana leaf is one of the famous classics from Bordallo Pinheiro. It is suitable as a fruit plate or for serving dishes, as a cheese platter or simply as a decoration - also hung on the wall - a special object for a little more poetry and a touch of the south in everyday life.
