The 'Apollo Earstuds' are made of two replicas of an ancient Greek dichalcone, a bronze coin from the period 350-300 BC, Colophon. Colophon was once the strongest of the Ionian cities and was known both for its cavalry and the luxurious lifestyle of its inhabitants. One side of the coin shows a galloping horse, the other the laurel-wreathed head of Apollo. In Greek mythology, Apollo was the god of light, healing, spring, temperance and divination. As the protector of the arts, Apollo presided over the nine Muses.
Berlin-based designer Elisabeth Schotte creates delicate, narrative pieces of timeless elegance. Found treasures and ancient stories inspire her modern jewelry, a collection of new talismans and modern ex-voto.
