The 'Aion' necklace is part of the Intaglio collection, which features delicate creations engraved with ancient figures such as putti, nymphs and muses, as well as legendary animals.
The term 'intaglio' refers to an image carved into the surface of seal stamps and stones of signet rings to create a raised impression. The amulet draws inspiration from 'magic stones'. Their production began in the late Hellenistic period and reached its peak in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. The depicted deity is called Abraxas, a mystical figure that emerged during the transition from Hellenism to early Christianity, with the body of a man, the head of a rooster and serpent feet.
The Berlin-based designer Elisabeth Schotte creates delicate, narrative pieces of timeless elegance. Found treasures and ancient stories inspire her modern jewelry, a series of new talismans and modern ex-voto.
